Letter from Executive Director Tuesday, May 9, 2017
The sun is shining this morning after a night of rain. I thought about our guests last night as they looked for a dry place to spend the night. This always happens after the season ends and the spring rains begin. My heart is deeply committed to our guests still living on the streets.
I wanted to share our end of season statistics to give you an idea of how the season flowed this year.
Number of shelter nights: 44
Number of guests sheltered: 293
Number of guests housed through partnerships: 10
Number of volunteers involved: 600
I celebrate the conclusion of season number 5. Each season brings it's own challenges, but because of my wonderful Board and Leadership Team we were able to address those challenges and consider them blessings in the end.
Now we begin looking ahead to the spring and summer activities that engage the ministry. In the in between months we are continuing to seek and build community relationships that are beneficial to our guests and raise awareness regarding the realities of life on the streets. Our desire is to help our neighbors understand not just the why or how of life on the streets, but the who. It is much harder to ignore or hand off to someone else the responsibility for individuals experiencing homelessness when you have a name and a face in conjunction with a story.
I celebrate all that God has done in and through this ministry. I look forward to what He has in store for these next weeks and months. Will you join us? I have a place for you to use your gifts and passion today!
Coveting your on-going prayers,
Lynn Ann Huizingh
