Empowering change in our community

Change is something that takes time and consistency. People moved to the suburbs of Denver years ago to get away from “city life”. Often seeing people experiencing homelessness is associated with living in the city. Neighbors simply can’t resolve in their own mind that there are people living on the streets of our suburban communities and yet…it is true.

Severe Weather Shelter Network, along with our partner organizations, has worked hard over the last seven years to help our community understand suburban homelessness. It is a slow process, but as our neighbors experiencing homelessness become more visible it is a reality we cannot ignore.

The commonly shared story among our guests regarding reasons for homelessness is a major medical illness and/or job loss. Any of us could experience those things and find ourselves in a difficult position.

Will you help us continue empowering change in our community?

Your gift to Severe Weather Shelter Network during the 40 HANDS in forty days campaign will help us empower change by telling the stories of those for whom we provide shelter.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 by Friday, April 10th toward opening a Day Site.

Imagine a community that works together to create a pathway out of homelessness. You can be part of empowering that kind of change!

You can give your best gift today by going to 40handsinfortydays.org and clicking on the “donate” button on our profile.
