Empowering change in the lives of our guests and volunteers

When Severe Weather Shelter Network began providing emergency shelter in 2013 our guests were not accustomed to the kind of shelter we provide. Many initially didn’t know if they could abstain from smoking or drinking in the overnight hours and they certainly were not sure they could sleep well with 30 other people.

Almost immediately our guests began to tell us something was different about how we provided shelter. Volunteers and guests sit down to dinner together and share stories. Friendships were formed. Lives are changed because each one gave a little to make this kind of shelter work.

Will you help us continue empowering change?

Your gift to Severe Weather Shelter Network during the 40 HANDS in forty days campaign will help us empower change in the community of south unincorporated Jefferson County.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 by Friday, April 10th to help us move toward opening a Day Site and Warming Site in unincorporated south Jefferson County.

The Day Site will give our guests and volunteers a place to work toward a different life experience. Imagine guests finding work, obtaining housing and becoming a contributing member of the community where they live. You can be part of empowering that kind of change!

You can give your best gift today by going to 40handsinfortydays.org and clicking on the “donate” button on our profile.
