August Shelter Shower 2017 Recap

Celebrating Our 2017 August Shelter Shower!

On Saturday, August 26th, we held our 4th Annual August Shelter Shower.  With over 70 individuals in attendance, representing 10 local churches and community partners, there was great enthusiasm as we celebrated our new logo, website, and tagline.  We also collectively celebrated our expansion into serving the homeless of Arvada beginning the upcoming 2017/2018 shelter season.  In addition, we praise God for the various items collected by our partner churches to meet our guests emergent needs.

The breakfast served by Hattie Pearl’s Cafe not only was designed to reflect a morning meal similar to that which is served on shelter mornings, but was absolutely delicious (and nutritious)!

We were pleasantly surprised to be joined by Lakewood Sentinel who captured our event via interviews and photos.  We look forward to seeing what goes to press.

Thank you to everyone who has given of their time, dedication, and resources.  Together, we are making a considerable Kingdom impact as we continue to care for the least of these.  We brought in $1,925 the day of our event, bringing our total August Shelter Shower Giving Campaign to a grand total of $6,425.

Together, we continue to work toward providing Refuge, Relationship, and Restoration into the lives of one another, and our guests, as God guides our direction and gives us the gift of connecting with the homeless amongst us.

So what’s next?

Our shelter season is quickly approaching and will launch on October 1, 2017.  Our next event, Refuge from the Cold will be held Saturday, November 4th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 2100 Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, 80124.  We are looking forward to a meaningful evening that will, no doubt, be the best one yet in the history of the Severe Weather Shelter Network.  Please stay tuned for more exciting details coming soon!
