Tis the Season…thinking through gift giving

The holiday season is upon us. Thanksgiving ushers us into a season of busyness that eats up our energy, our time and quite often our patience. We push harder and harder through Christmas and into the New Year finally collapsing with a big sigh and wondering what it was all about.

Severe Weather Shelter Network enters this season with a clear understanding of what we are about. Often our guests are denied access to their families at this time of year. In a season when family is highlighted as most important our guests feel even more isolated and invisible.

I am thankful today for the many volunteers who give of their time and energy to love those the world thinks of as unlovable. Volunteers pour out love in the form of affirmation, a listening ear and sometimes by running to the store to pick up that extra coat for that certain guest.

As we come to the end of 2019 it is often a time when people are thinking about where they can give a gift that matters.

Severe Weather Shelter Network is one of those places where you can give a gift that matters. In fact, your gift given right now helps more than 100 guests each shelter night to be safe, warm and well fed. You are preventing people from freezing to death and giving them a sense of dignity and identity that is often missing in their day to day interactions.

Your gift can be given in these ways:

  1. Coloradogives.org/Severe Weather Shelter Network  (Tuesday, December 10th)
  2. Severe Weather Shelter Network donate page  (Anytime)
  3. Amazon Smiles  (Amazon Prime members; choose Severe Weather Shelter Network as your charity of choice)
  4. Checks can be made out to Severe Weather Shelter Network and mailed to: Severe Weather Shelter Network, PO Box 620546 Littleton, CO 80162

Thank you for thinking of us…and our shelter guests as this time of year. May your Holidays be blessed. May your family time be refreshing and renewing. May you find that time slows down just a bit so you can enjoy the season in its fullness. May your hearts recognize the reason for the season and find Peace that passes understanding.

Resting in the One Who is the greatest gift of all,
